TICKETS GO ON SALE MAY 8 FOR WUSA SOCCER FESTIVAL AT THE HOME DEPOT CENTER- Mia Hamm Added as a Gues

WASHINGTON, D.C. - (Thursday, May 6, 2004) - Southern California soccer fans will soon have the opportunity to purchase tickets to see the world's best female soccer players compete at The Home Depot Center, as WUSA officials announced today that tickets for the WUSA Soccer Festival will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, May 8.

Tickets are available by visiting The Home Depot Center Box office, by calling Ticketmaster at (213) 480-3232 or via the Internet at Ticketmaster.com.  Tickets are priced from $15-$30 for the Sunday, June 27 doubleheader featuring the San Diego Spirit vs. Carolina Courage in game one and the Philadelphia Charge taking on the San Jose CyberRays in the second match.  Groups of 15 or more receive a $5 discount on tickets.  For group tickets, call (866) LA-GROUP or (877) 3-GALAXY. 

Soccer fans also will have the opportunity to see the world's all-time leading scorer, Mia Hamm, in action at The Home Depot Center as she competes as a guest player for the San Diego Spirit.   One of the leaders of the 2003 WUSA Founders Cup champion Washington Freedom, Hamm will suit up as a guest player in the navy and gold, joining U.S. national team teammates and Spirit veterans Julie Foudy, Joy Fawcett and Shannon MacMillan as San Diego battles the Carolina Courage in game one.

WUSA officials also announced the official date and times for the WUSA Soccer Festival at The Home Depot Center.

The WUSA Soccer Festival Weekends will feature a series of soccer-themed events during the Thursday to Sunday timeframe.  Each weekend is scheduled to feature soccer clinics, player appearances and autograph signing sessions, WUSA Fan Zones, a Friday luncheon and many other festivities. 

Featuring the best women's soccer players in the world, WUSA athletes include U.S. stars Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Briana Scurry, Abby Wambach, Kristine Lilly, Shannon Boxx Julie Foudy and dozens of international stars such as Germany's Birgit Prinz and France's Marinette Pichon.  The eight WUSA teams that competed during the 2003 season were the Atlanta Beat, Boston Breakers, Carolina Courage, New York Power, Philadelphia Charge, San Diego Spirit, San Jose CyberRays and the Washington Freedom.
