Dignity Health Sports Park to Host 2023 Treats-N-Suits Halloween Bash and Shoe Giveaway for Underserved Local Youth on Friday, Oct. 20

LOS ANGELES (Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023) – The Dignity Health Sports Park’s ASCSC Community Foundation and the LA Galaxy Foundation announced today that the 16th Annual Treats-n-Suites Halloween Bash Presented by SA Recycling at Dignity Health Sports Park will be taking place on Friday, Oct. 20 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT. The event, which is sold-out, is open to children ages 2-11.

Additionally, Dignity Health Sports Park’s ASCSC Community Foundation, the LA Galaxy Foundation, Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) and Shoes That Fit have partnered to provide new adidas shoes to 400 local youth in need at Galaxy Park from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. PT on Friday, Oct. 20. The shoe giveaway is possible through a $100,000 donation by Philadelphia Insurance Companies to Shoes That Fit. LA Galaxy players and Cozmo, the Galaxy’s mascot, will be on hand to help distribute shoes to the local youth from the Carson, Compton and greater Los Angeles area.

“One in three children in the United States live in a low-income family, and shoes are one of the most expensive items for families to provide,” said Amy Fass, Executive Director at Shoes That Fit. “When families have to choose between putting food on the table or buying new shoes for school, you can imagine that food wins every time. The simple gift of a pair of shoes can increase a child's confidence, attendance, and performance at school, and we are so thankful that Philadelphia Insurance and the LA Galaxy are taking the time to make such a positive impact on these kids."

“The teamwork by Shoes That Fit, LA Galaxy, Dignity Health Sports Park and Philadelphia Insurance Companies is a win for kids in the LA community,” said John Glomb, president and CEO of Philadelphia Insurance Companies. “PHLY is so excited to start our new partnership with Shoes That Fit through this first LA-area giveaway and support our customers and communities nationwide through future shoe giveaways.”

All of the underserved local youth attending the shoe giveaway hosted at Galaxy Park in partnership with PHLY and Shoes That Fit will also be invited to the Treats-n-Suites Halloween Bash.

Treats-n-Suites hosts over 1,000 children ages 2-11 for a series of Halloween-themed activities including trick-or-treating, hayrides, carnival games provided by the City of Carson and a costume parade, as well as support for activations at the event from the Wildlife Learning Center and Melissa’s Produce.

“We are excited to host our 16th annual Treats-n-Suites Halloween Bash at Dignity Health Sports Park,” said Tamala Lewis, Sr. Director of Community Relations at Dignity Health Sports Park. “This event is a special day for our local community as we come together to provide a safe place for children to enjoy the Halloween festivities at one of the best facilities in Southern California. This year, we wanted to increase our positive impact in the community by hosting a shoe giveaway at Galaxy Park for underserved local youth in partnership with PHLY and Shoes That Fit. We are beyond thankful to all of our partners who have come together to organize a special evening of celebration for the local youth in our communities.”

Suites for the Treats-n-Suites Halloween Bash are decorated by the LA Galaxy, LA Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Sparks, LA Galaxy Academy, Dignity Health, Kinecta Credit Union, AEG, Southbay Pavilion Mall, Boys & Girls Club of Carson, YMCA Gardena-Carson, and Carson Sheriff Department.
