LOS ANGELES (Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023) – Dignity Health Sports Park today announced the opening of a checkout-free concession store, Galaxy GO, using Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology to allow customers to quickly grab items without having to wait in line.

 

The Galaxy GO store is located in the west concourse of the stadium behind section 108. The shop offers snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and a variety of alcoholic beverages (store attendants will check ID).

 

Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology is designed to eliminate checkout lines to allow more time for guests to enjoy more time watching the game.

 

“We are excited to collaborate with Amazon to bring Just Walk Out technology to Dignity Health Sports Park’s new checkout-free store Galaxy GO,” said Dignity Health Sports Park General Manager Katie Pandolfo. “There are limited opportunities for fans to get up and grab concessions given the sport’s continuous run of play, so we are always looking for ways to speed up service. We don’t want guests to wait in long lines at concession stands and miss important moments of the game. We want our fans to enjoy their overall experience at our venue and this technology helps us meet that goal.”

 

Shopping at Galaxy GO powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology is designed to be an effortless experience. Guests enter the store by using their credit card at the entry gate. The technology detects what shoppers take from or return to the shelves and creates a virtual shopping session. When guests have completed their shopping experience, they are able to leave the store without having to wait in line, and their choice of payment method will be charged for the items they took with them.

Just Walk Out technology is made possible by artificial intelligence like computer vision and deep learning techniques, including generative AI, to accurately determine who took what in any retail environment. Amazon built synthetic datasets to mimic millions of realistic shopping scenarios – including variations in store format, lighting conditions, and even crowds of shoppers – to ensure accuracy in any environment.

 

Dignity Health Sports Park staff will be on hand to answer questions, monitor the store, and support guest attendance.
